In this society there is a mother, a father and two children. The eldest, a boy, the youngest a girl. The houses are perfect, everyone has a high paying job, every young person has an education, everything is perfect....well almost everything. If parents have a third child, that child has to go to the sanctuary, if parents have two boys, one has to go to the sanctuary, if parents have a girl as their first child, it goes to the sanctuary. You get the picture, anything imperfect goes to the sanctuary. The sanctuary is a place where the imperfections of the world go to learn about perfection. It is told they are there to be kept safe and isolated in a place that is a sanctuary, hence the name. This is where my sister, Ashley, has been kept all her life and mine. Another slight imperfection is me, I would call myself a genius where the government would disagree. My name is Alison and I cheat the system. I have my fun every now and then but there is a hole in my life, I always felt like half of me is missing, that’s where Ashley comes in.
